Lemonade Stand at the Lakewood Arts Festival
Every year on the first Saturday of August, the corner of Detroit and Warren is transformed into the hot spot for refreshments for hundreds of Arts Festival visitors. This year was by far the busiest event that I have seen in the past 6 years. Each customer is treated to a cup of fresh squeezed lemonade that you will not find in many restaurants or concession stands. A half of a lemon is squeezed into a cup, ice, water and sugar are added and shaken (not stirred) then delivered fresh. “This ain’t no Countrytime”, was heard throughout the day to further convince the customers of the quality of the product they were about to experience. Many who visit this booth comment that they look forward to the Arts Festival simply for the opportunity to have one of our lemonades. Proceeds from this event help to finance many of the programs that we offer. Additionally, Pillars of Lakewood has also sponsored the Best New Artist award in 2009 and 2010 to give back to the event.
